The K9 above is Brutus, a military K9 at McChord..
He's huge - part Boxer and part British Bull Mastiff and tops the scales at 200 lbs. His handler took the picture. Brutus is running toward me because he knows I have some Milk Bone treats, so he's slobbering away! I had to duck around a tree just before he got to me in case he couldn't stop, but he did.
Brutus won the Congressional Medal of Honor last year from his tour in Iraq . His handler and four other soldiers were taken hostage by insurgents. Brutus and his handler communicate by sign language and he gave Brutus the signal that meant 'go away but come back and find me'. The Iraqis paid no attention to Brutus. He came back later and quietly tore the throat out of one guard at one door and another guard at another door. He then jumped against one of the doors repeatedly (the guys were being held in an old warehouse) until it opened. He went in and untied his handler and they all escaped. He's the first K9 to receive this honor. If he knows you're OK, he's a big old lug and wants to sit in your lap. Enjoys the company of cats..

Thought you'd find this interesting.
Talk about animal intelligence and bonding with humans!
Remember that they can't do a lot of things for themselves and that they depend on you to make their life a quality life!
A PET'S TEN COMMANDMENTS.......
1. My life is likely to last 10-15 years. Any separation from you is likely to be painful.
2. Give me time to understand what you want of me
3. Place your trust in me. It is crucial for my well-being.
4. Don't be angry with me for long and don't lock me up as punishment. You have your work, your friends, your entertainment, but I have only you.
5. Talk to me. Even if I don't understand your words, I do understand your voice when speaking to me.
6. Be aware that however you treat me, I will never forget it.
7. Before you hit me, before you strike me, remember that I could hurt you, and yet, I choose not to bite you.
8. Before you scold me for being lazy or uncooperative, ask yourself if something might be bothering me. Perhaps I'm not getting the right food, I have been in the sun too long, or my heart might be getting old or weak.
9. Please take care of me when I grow old. You too, will grow old.
10 On the ultimate difficult journey, go with me please. Never say you can't bear to watch. Don't make me face this alone. Everything is easier for me if you are there, because I love you so.
Take a moment today to thank GOD for your pets. Enjoy and take good care of them. Life would be a much duller, less joyful experience without God's critters.
Now please pass this on to other pet owners. We do not have to wait for Heaven, to be surrounded by hope, love, and joyfulness. It is here on earth and has four legs!
Instructions for properly hugging a baby:
1. First, uh, find a baby.
2. Second, be sure that the object you found was indeed a baby by employing classic sniffing techniques.
3. Next you will need to flatten the baby before actually beginning the
hugging process.
4. The 'paw slide'
Simply slide paws around baby and prepare for possible close-up.
5. Finally, if a camera is present, you will need to execute
the difficult and patented 'hug, smile, and lean' so as to
achieve the best photo quality.
I hope you enjoyed Brutus' story as much as we did...He is definitely a gentle GIANT and K-9 Hero.

Why Worry??
Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to this life? Since you cannot do this very little thing, why worry... about the rest? Luke 12:25-26 Peace and Blessings, Team Wilson ♥♥

The WALK!
My friends who know me, are aware that I am more comfortable around animals, than people sometimes. Animals were created by God, and offer unconditional love; just as our Father in heaven offers to His children.
We have been helping train and rehabilitate animals, to help them find forever homes. It also eases their transition into their new adoptive homes.
Animals are not disposable or recycleable. They can't control or over come their owners lack of awareness. Dogs for example: have to release pinned up energy, and have to have an outlet. Animals not receiving this can't control the outcome of their action. Chewing, barking, pacing, eliminating waste in the house, (you weren't home. I couldn't hold it anymore.)
Dogs are pack animals and have physical needs, they have to walk or run, to release energy and stay healthy. The walk is very important in ownership, it helps develop trust, bonding, and following you the owner. It represents pack leadership.
A fenced back yard is great but, does not fulfill the need for walk/run exercise to be drained. Have you noticed perimeter walks, running the same path wearing away your grass, barking at neighbors walking, or at other dogs in the neighborhood. This is a form of draining energy and routine boredom.
Dogs need to be challenged! A minimum walk of at least 20 minutes twice a day is a starting point. A healthy dog should be walked for 45-60 minutes to drain energy. You will notice a more relaxed, well behaved dog. The walk will also help increase your heart rate, and give you more energy. We all are aware of our health...it's important to us. We can't forget about our pets.
A walk will help you relax, a sense of calm, and help to clear your head. There is nothing more precious than walking in sync with your beloved pet. Listen closely as their strides match yours, listen to their breathing, inhales and exhales...listen deeply you can almost sense their heartbeat. I've found it to be very rewarding listening to my dog.
Animals live in the NOW. A place where human condition and society have not allowed us as owners to think. We live in the past, present and future. There are many what if's in our lives. Don't dwell on the past, it can consume you. You can chase time but, you will never get it back. The future is always coming in the form of another day. Plan as best you can. Lessons are learned from success, opportunities and failure. Learn from your successes and failures but, they will be in the past as soon as they are over. Live in the NOW.... with your pet, your family, your children, and grandchildren. Condition yourself, that it is OK, if you didn't finish all of your daily planned lists, there is tomorrow. Life comes up, things happen beyond one's control, try to keep yourself in check, it can help reduce your level of stress. Bringing us back to our families and pets.
Time. Spend that quality time with your pet, your family, your children, and grandchildren. Don't chase time that is already gone...make plans, spend your time wisely. Then you will become a happier you. Live in the NOW, we can learn a great deal from our pets.
Trust in the Lord, he will keep you safe and is always with you!

The Best Gift!
Remember the best gift you can give your dog is your time. Love them, train them, walk them daily (there is no better bonding experience than the Walk). Set boundaries for your pet, give them a job to do, keep them challenged.
Put your best paw forward!
Peace and Blessings,
